Multi-Provider IMS Infrastructure with Controlled Redundancy: A Performability Evaluation

In modern telecommunication networks, services are provided through Service Function Chains (SFC), where network resources implemented by leveraging virtualization and containerization technologies. particular, the possibility of easily adding or removing has prompted service providers to redefine some concepts including performance availability. line with this new trend, we propose a performability study multi-provider containerized IP Multimedia Subsystem (cIMS), an SFC-like infrastructure used in core part 4G/5G networks handle multimedia sessions. On one hand, issues tackled modeling each cIMS node terms G/G/m queueing system derive Call Setup Delay (CSD), metric related user-end experience communications. other availability addressed Multi-State System (MSS) formalism, take into account different rates system. Then, devise algorithm called PE-MUGF (Performability Evaluation Multidimensional Universal Generating Function) identify minimum-redundancy configuration which meets given targets at same time. Finally, extensive experimental analysis based on Clearwater, IMS testbed, allows us estimate most parameters whose robustness is evaluated sensitivity analysis.
